Here’s what the Penang Gerakan Chairman, who once were in a race to be the Penang Chief Minister before having their embarrassing asses “whoopped” by the DAP in the 12th General Election, said in a recent news:

Meanwhile, Teng, quoting MIDA’s statistics, said Penang received RM1.67 billion investment as at the third quarter this year.

The number, he said was eight times lower as compared to the investment secured in the corresponding period last year, which was at RM10.15 billion.

To be fair, I think I should use the original figures provided by MIDA available here. I should also point out that the figures are for the months January to August. The last I checked, “as at the third quarter this year” meant from “as at January to September” this year.

The figure for 2008 was RM 10,156,301,413, and the figure as at August 2009 is RM 1,664,533,609. When the numbers are rounded up to the nearest billion with two decimal places, that’s RM 10.16 billion for 2008 and RM 1.66 billion for 2009. How Datuk Dr. Teng got the figures of RM 10.15 billion and RM 1.67 billion is beyond my understanding.

Next, dividing the 2008 figure by 2009 figure, we get 6.1 – which meant as at August 2009, the amount of investment in the field of Manufacturing that the State of Penang received was 6.1 times lower compared to the same period last year. Clearly, 6.1 ≠ 8.

Even if we used the figures by Datuk Dr. Teng, it still doesn’t make sense no matter how you look at it:

10.15 ÷ 1.67 = 6.08

1.67 × 8 = 13.3

10.15÷ 8 = 1.27

So, there you have it. Mathematics according to the former Penang Chief Minister aspirant, Datuk Dr. Teng Hock Nan.

Ridiculous Religion Site Stupid

Ever since WordPress supported tags, we have been tagging each post because we believe it’s a better way to organise and find things that way compared to the archaic Categories (which I would add we still use as if they were tags). Over the years we have used quite a number of tags, and WordPress has a sidebar widget to automatically change the font size of the tags according to the times it is used. See the sidebar if you don’t understand.

Admittedly, we have talked about religion on this blog quite a lot, and our love for the Pastafarianism religion and the Flying Spaghetti Monster is quite evident. Perhaps then, by divine intervention, the tags have aligned themselves together to create a powerful message for all to see, although those tags were never used in tandem.

As if FSM is not ridiculous

Now THAT is what we call a message from God. We particularly like the part where Stupid were the most emphasised of all. A “Rediculous Religion Site Stupid” example would be “The Church of the Whale Penis” known to us many years ago. No, I AM deadly serious:

But perhaps one of the MOST ridiculous thing (even by crazy “Whale-penisism” standard) we have came across is from a book we got from a booth of an Islamic RMIT student association spreading the word of Islam, supposedly. We have a terribly good laugh looking at the so-called evidence of God in Quran, and forgot about it – until we rediscovered it online. Apparently the whole book is for all to see online.

No, we are serious – the book compared the embryo to a “chewed substance” or a piece of chewing gum with teeth marks in it and call that evidence of the miracles in the Holy Quran. Now THAT is “Rediculous Religion Site Stupid”.

The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The Arabic word mudghah means “chewed substance.” If one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in his or her mouth and then compare it with an embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that the embryo at the mudghah stage acquires the appearance of a chewed substance. This is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that “somewhat resemble teethmarks in a chewed substance.”

Intrigued, we decided to do some research on that phrase in the Holy Quran. We referred to at least five translations, in English and Malay, of that specific phrase in the Holy Quran. We are not at all proficient in the Islamic religion, which is why we used translation. And all translations point to one conclusion – that the Embryo-Gum metaphor is totally ridiculous. All of them made more sense (even scientifically speaking) than the said metaphor.

Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay); Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!

Now, we are not even sure if the book, in print and in online form, is a parody of the religion, or do some Muslim take them for Quranic miracles. We don’t even know if the RMIT Islamic students read and understood what they were handing out freely that day. I am sure they should have checked the facts, or at least the translation in the books, lest they misled people like me.

P.S.: We are not “bashing” Islam. We are just bashing some bad translation of the Quran.

Ris Low – Of Miss Singapore World, Credit Card Fraud and Pokemon Card Theft

A few weeks ago, my cousin send me a YouTube link and asked me to watch it.

I had a good laugh, thinking she was just a contestant. Little did I know that I was in for some surprise. After some Googling, I was shocked to find out that she actually WON the Miss Singapore World title. Her normal appearance aside, it’s a little stupefying that someone with her level of English communication skill can win the title, at all.

Today, I read with amazement the following news:

Miss Singapore World, exposed for credit card fraud of almost SGD $8000!? Just two months prior to the pageant? I thought those title and crown are supposed to be esteemed, a source of inspiration and a model figure for some?

Even worse is the following quote from the paper:

Low also admitted that she started stealing Pokemon cards when she was young and credit cards when she grew up.

Wow. Pokemon cards…

Luckily, she backed out from the finals, and gave up her crown. Otherwise, she will continue to be an embarrassment to Singapore, and netizens will continue to rip on her for having such appalling English.

Frankly though, I don’t really know how Miss Ris Low can continue on without having people constantly talk about her. That’s kinda sad, actually.

Ahmad Said Hamdan – The Top Anti-Graft Buster

Thanks to the Niamah blogger, I finally knew why Malaysia is in the sorry state it is today in terms of corruption. It’s because the Cheif Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission is this guy:

The proof

You see, graft means corruption, while buster means a person who breaks up something. In effect graft buster means one who stops corruption – the work in which ICAC actually do and in which MACC is supposed to do.

“Anti-graft buster”, on the other hand, means completely the opposite – one who stop those who breaks up corruption, or one who bust those who condemn corruption. With a “top anti-graft buster” being the head commissioner, no wonder MACC is in such a sorry state, and corruption is so rampant in Malaysia.

Oh, and by the way, this is the same Ahmad Said Hamdan made famous by the quote of “I can bet with you that it’s something that you will find on most men’s handphones”, in regards to this incident. Obviously, he is made fun of.I do wonder what I can find in HIS handphone.

Oh well, again, only in Malaysia…

Great Nokia Advertisement

I pride myself on having a 19″ LCD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 900, Of course, in this age of information overload and 22″ and above screen, that screen size is not adequate, which is why I value my screen real estate very much. Imagine my horror when I visit Gizmodo (Australia) and see this:

What the hell were they thinking? From my browser user agent, they are perfectly capable of knowing my operating system, my browser, and my screen resolution. Why the hell then would they want me to imagine viewing Gizmodo content through the small screen Nokia N97 when I am sitting in front of my computer with my huge ass screen?

To make matters worse, I decided to do some calculation:

The actual Gizmodo content has been reduced to a meagre resolution of 930 x 578. Great! In fact, taking into account the various title bar, status bar, menu bar and scroll bar, the advertisement effectively take away a cumulative 726930 pixels from me. That’s 56.1% of my screen resolution!

I have to say this is a great marketing idea though, since it creates brand and product awareness. Now I am fully aware of how much I hate Nokia N97 and aware that Nokia has sucky advertisement. Oh, and Gizmodo Australia? Shame on you. No wonder I prefer the US version.

Of differing opinion

Recently news are all about what our newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister said, and its unintended consequences.

Firstly, there’s the ungrateful comment:

Chinese are ungrateful, not Kingmakers.

You can search through Utusan Malaysia to see what he said in Bahasa Melayu. I am not going to bother. While there are some dissenting views, most of the blogosphere and the opposition are critical of him.

After the uproar, he blames the media – specifically the Chinese newspaper.

Blame the Chinese media

As far as I am concerned, MalaysianInsider was the first one to broke the news according to my trusty Google Reader, not the Chinese media. The Chinese media never even twist his words. I am not even going to comment about what he said, both prior to and after the whole incident, because so many people has already done so.

What I will say is this – That guy is supposed to be our new Deputy Prime Minister? Allah save Malaysia.

He is entitled to his view, however stupid, and I am entitled to mine, however offensive. And my view (to him) is this:

Nik Aziz is someone that I can respect. Although some of his views are moronic, his stance on racism and corruption is applaudable. Recent news however made me think twice about my respect for him.

Err… What? Muslim smokers worse than cows? What have cows ever done to Muslim or Islam? On the contrary, cows are often used for agriculture, and for its meat for great rendang. If he had said pigs (which are non-halal), the coment would have made more sense.

To make matters worse, he goes on about cows not having brain and cannot think. Ever heard of Mad Cow Disease? A disease that affect cow’s brain? Seriously WTF. In case you didn’t know, all cows have brains, around 500g in each. They think every second, but not in the way you and I think. They might not have conscience, but they definitely have brains.

Let’s talk about some stupid quotes by some politicians, and generally, people in power in Malaysia.

Stupid Idiot

The original news piece can be read in full here. If anyone wants any clarification, here’s the quote:

Who the heck gave Muslims or anyone the monopoly to talk about a single caliph or any Arabic verses. No doubt, it’s from the Quran, but it’s just like any verse in any language. So is the caliph’s name. Anyone has the right to use it, at one’s “whim and fancy”. Just like when I used Dr. Hilmi Yahaya’s name by calling him a stupid idiot.

Next up, another politician. This time, he is from the ruling party:

An assemblymen has urged the state to impose a RM10 tax on each foreign tourist visiting Penang to help improve public facilities which would lure more tourists to the state. “This proposal would help the state increase its earnings by RM10mil a year if a million foreign tourists visited Penang,’’ he said when debating the Budget 2009.

I know Penang is tight on money, but this is just ridiculous. Firstly, who constitute a foreign tourist? If Lau Keng Ee (DAP – Pengkalan Kota) meant international tourist, their numbers are estimated to be 1.4 million yearly. That’s just RM 14 million annually, provided that such stupid plans do not reduce the number of tourist. The whole state of Penang has a budget of over RM300 million, and RM14 million just does not seem significant anymore. Furthermore, who wants to visit Penang if it has an “entry fee”, and it’s perpetually dirty?

Finally, a fatwa has been issued on yoga, after one was issued on tomboy recently. This is the worst of all.

Only the physical aspect of yoga without the mantras and elements of worshipping outwardly was not wrong (in Islam). However, yoga was not to be encouraged among Muslims for fear that it could erode their Islamic faith since the physical part was a component of yoga practice as a whole. – Datuk Dr Abdul Shukor Husin, Chairman of National Fatwa Council of Malaysia

Fark. Fark on so many levels! I guess they fail to realise most yoga centres just teach the physical exercise without any mantras. Next, how are they going to implement it? Raid yoga centres, raid private homes? Prevent muslims from buying yoga books? Fark! If a Muslim’s faith can so be eroded so easily, clearly he doesn’t deserve to be one.

Sometimes I do wonder about the intellectual capabilities of the politicians in Malaysia, ruling or not.

Worse Food Guide 1 – Supper Inn Chinese Restaurant

It’s been a while since I talk about something in Australia, let alone Melbourne. Today, I am proud to present a new section in WhatTheToot! – Melbourne Worse Food Guide.

You have to take into account this site, and this piece is written by some frugal students (read: poor) who stress a lot on value for money. You also have to take into account that I have been a waiter before, and has worked in the Athlete’s Village during the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

You also have to take the word “Food” in Melbourne Worse Food Guide in a non-literal approach. Food is but a function of the restaurant, and a restaurant can be judged on its cleanliness, quality of food, quality of service, and everything else. So, by “Worse Food Guide”, I mean places you shouldn’t even consider going to.

Without further adieu, let me present to you the first ever, and currently on my top list, the worse food in Melbourne – Supper Inn Chinese Restaurant.

The worst restaurant in Melbourne

A week ago, a friend was staying with us. He was hungry around midnight, and our sister recommended Supper Inn to us. Having lived in Melbourne for more than three years, I have never visited the place – since its located in a dirty alley, directly in front of a few hugh rubbish bins – your average Melbourne Chinese restaurant.

As soon as we enter the premise, no one greeted or seat us. The supposed (we assumed) manager nonchalantly act as if he didn’t care while he pick up the menus, before seating us. He should have done the opposite.

We then noticed the exorbitant price. Students aren’t exactly rich, and while the shop is open until 3 in the morning, the premium they charge is way too much. A few minutes later, a waiter walked close to our table with his notepad, ready to take our order.

His presentation was average – the average asshole that is. His hair was dyed golden, which made him looked like Homo Golden Monkey. We asked him to give us a minute (since the food was pricey and we are finding cheap alternatives), and he walked away without saying a thing. We contemplated walking out of the store, but then there aren’t many stores which are open in the wee hours of a Monday morning.

We decided to get the cheapest food – congee, and we signalled the waiter. We asked how big the a bowl of congee is, and he seemed to have a very hard time articulating and expressing himself, making him a closer relative of the chimpanzee than the average human. I asked if its bigger than the bowl sitting in front of us, he agreed, and we (my brother, his friend, and me) ordered three different congee.

We finished our congee 15 minutes later, and was chatting away there while sipping some Chinese tea. We placed the cover of the teapot in a way that signalled to them that we wanted the teapot refilled. The waiter came over, collected our empty bowls, place the bill in front of us, and walked away. We were a little pissed, and asked him back to refill our teapot.

He took away the teapot, and we were still chatting there. We placed a 20 dollar note on the tray with the receipt. A waitress came over to take the money away and said “Thank You” to us. At least there’s still a single hospitality staff in the store with some decent attitude.

Another waiter came over with the change in a tray and removed all the tea cups in a way that indicated he is not happy, and we are not welcome. We raised our voices to say we are still waiting for some tea, and he mumbled something that sounded like “If you paid the bill that means you do not want anything and wants to leave.” We said no, he placed the cups back on our table angrily and walked away without being apologetic. We further raised our voice and asked for the manager.

The idiot signalled to the Homo Golden Monkey and a few minutes went by before the Golden Monkey gave us our tea. However, no manager came to our table. We were pissed.

While we drank our tea, the waiters and supposed manager sat down. They started conversing in Cantonese, and thinking we do not understand anything, they said something that goes along the line of “they only ordered 3 bowls of congee”. The rest of the conversation, one can reasonably expect, would be badmouthing us. The worse part is the manager took of his shoes and played with it with his feet. Professionalism and creditability – none to negative.

Five minutes passed, we finished our tea, and still no manager. Of course, we left the store after that, and vowed never to come back.

Overall, the food was good, at least my congee was. The friend’s, and my brother’s were not for me to judge. However, the unwelcoming attitude, facade, atmosphere, and having two complete idiots as waiters, with a fuck-you-I-don’t-care manager would enough to make you think twice about even stepping up the stairs to the premise.

We do not expect excellent service, but we do expect to be treated politely with some decency. Sadly, those were missing from Supper Inn Chinese Restaurant. For that we rate it the worse food in Melbourne, with negative infinity stars. You should probably stay away.

BERNAMA Should Learn to Spell

The importance of spell-checking and double-checking one’s work cannot be stressed any further. Most bloggers (including me) do not normally spell-check their post, but in fact, they should. An article, and the mistakes in the article says a lot about the author. I swear I shall spell check and double check my work, including this blog, in the future.

It’s one thing for bloggers and amateurs to make mistake, it’s another thing when formal news source do the same. I was reading news online, when I came across the following:

Australian Prime Minister is Ruud!

In one heading, there are two mistakes: “Ruud” and “Bilaterial”. While “bilaterial” has been corrected, as of today, no one has bothered to correct “Ruud” yet. The post still can be found here. That’s extremely “Ruud” of TheMalaysianInsider.com to misspell the last name of a Prime Minister from another country. That’s all fine, until I scroll down to the bottom of the news and read the news source – BERNAMA.

Non-Malaysian might not know this, but BERNAMA, short for Berita Nasional Malaysia, literally Malaysian National News, is the Malaysian National News Agency. Immediately, I search for “Ruud” on the website, and I swear I could not have made this up, this is what I see:

As of today, the news complete with the mistake can still be read. Since the news from The Malaysian Insider is sourced from Bernama, it’s mildly acceptable for them to make the mistake, but it doesn’t exempt them from spell checking their articles, especially with a huge ass heading of “Ruud”.

BERNAMA’s mistake, is another thing. It’s the Malaysian National News Agency, man! If they can make such simple mistake, what about the average Malaysian?

Now I know why our national English level suck ass. Maybe Australia should consider terminating the “bilaterial” ties with Malaysia.

Wise Investor Indeed!

I was wondering if there’s any online broker in Malaysia, and after a quick search on Google, I arrived on this page.

For those who are curious, you can visit the homepage, and I think you’ll agree that the whole website is just nearly as stupid as Bank Rakyat’s website, as mentioned previously by Khensthoth.

As I was saying, I reached this page, and scrolling down a little, there’s “Wise Investor Game, click here to play” gif image which aroused my curiousity. So, I was clicking through the “game” and came across this:

Money is a great friend once you send it off to work. For example, if you deposit RM500 in a savings account that pays five percent interest, a year later you have an extra RM25 and you didn’t have to do anything to earn it. Your money earned it!

Twenty five dollars might not seem like much but if you deposited RM 25 for ten years while the interest is compounding and building up, at the end of the tenth year you would have RM 6,603.39, comprising RM5000 you put in, plus RM1,603.39 that was earned from the money you invested.

Alright, aside from having an amazing 5% interest rate, it says that the RM 25 is earned without doing anything. Sure, RM 25 extra, but there is no information whatsoever about the inflation rate at that time. If the inflation rate is higher than 5%, which is probably the case, I do wonder how wise the “investor” is. I am not saying that one should not put money in the bank. What I am saying is that nobody will get any wiser playing this bullshit.

Alright, it then says that in total, you have put in RM 5000, by saving RM 25 over a period of 10 years. Assuming the the saving is periodical, a quick calculation shows that one will need to save RM 25 approximately every 18 days….. Right, sure. 18 days is easy to remember. I deposited RM 25 on Monday. Alright, I’ll come back to the bank on Friday 2 weeks later. That’s easy to remember…. Right. So, on the assumption that the interest rate is 5%, and that RM 25 is deposited every 18 days, a not-so-fun calculation shows that one will get approximately RM 7121 by the end of the 10 year period, NOT RM 6603.39

Let’s see what other wise advice is given there, shall we?

If you invest RM500 a year in stocks your money gets a chance to do you a really big favour. On average you will double your money every seven or eight years. A lot of smart investors have learned to take advantage of this; they realise that money is as important as their job.

Double your money every 7 or 8 years? That is between 9% to 10.4% of annual return, and as stated, from investment in STOCKS! On average! Can you believe that?

Bank Rakyat Website Stupid

Go to any advice page from website designer and the following two will be listed, in one way or another:

Do not have any “Home” page that requires people to click to enter your website. The content is the most important part of a website, and having people click to enter your website is particularly unwelcoming, and serve no functional benefit.
Do not have any flash content on your website, particularly not on your “Home” page (See above). Some unobtrusive and non-distracting flash content on the banner is mildly acceptable. A whole website made with Flash is not. Unless your company has anything to do with Flash, do not use it.

Sadly, it was once a norm to design website that incorporate the two aforementioned “features”. This is slowly changing, fortunately. However, since most of Malaysia’s governmental or organisation’s websites are designed before George Bush was president, they retain the same basic flaw.

After reading the news I mentioned, I went to Bank Rakyat website to have a look to see if they have anything to say about it. Sadly, I was greeted with this when I arrive at their website:

Yes, a page to select the language, not a page of content. First mistake. However, when I click on English, I was greeted with this:

A “Enter” page with Flash content that took an infinite amount of time to load on my 1.5Mbps broadband connection. Another non-content page. At this point, I decided that this is one of the worst website I have seen. After I click enter, this is presented:

That’s my browser at a resolution of 1024×768. I have no idea what the grey box is. At a “non-standard” resolution, like 1440×900 however, it looks like this:

Yea. Farking ugly – Fugly. I have previously wrote about stupid, ugly website, but Bank Rakyat Website takes the phrase “stupid website” to a whole new level.

Learning Geography from StatCounter

StatCounter is one of those free web statistical system that records user visits. I use it, along with Google Analytics (too complicated) and WordPress.com Stat (non-functional). Currently StatCounter is the only one that provide free, easy, real-time analysis. While it is great at that, it’s totally useless in IP-Geolocation – determining the location using IP. Let’s look at some example:

Perth is an island off the coast of Australia according to StatCounter.

Kuala Terengganu is closer to Penang than to Terengganu.

Kota Kinabalu is now some obscure island in the South China Sea.

Pay special attention to this one. The “ISP” indicated that it is Melaka Manipal Medical College in Melaka. Oh hey, Melaka is actually in Kuala Lumpur according to StatCounter, and it is located in Indonesia!

Another instance Kuala Lumpur is actually somewhere in Indonesia.

What the TOOT?! This has got to be the worse website in terms of portraying their IP-Geolocation data. Seriously Toot!

Beware of Pedestrians!

Back in Malaysia, people jaywalk all the time partly because there aren’t any laws and regulations safeguarding the interests of pedestrians, but mostly because there are just too much (uncountable!) reckless, stupid and idiotic drivers in Malaysia, particularly Penang.

In Australia, particularly Melbourne (since I live here), people are known for their good manners in driving. They will always (most of the time) let the pedestrians cross the road before driving through, even at a junction without traffic lights, and even if that means waiting for one full minute for all the pedestrians to cross. They will rarely sound the honk. Malaysian wouldn’t think twice before doing so.

That kinda gives pedestrians in Melbourne king-like power. Indeed, they are, in my opinion, the true king of the road. Their powers are so great that eventually people got scared of them, and began warning other people of pedestrians:

Yes. All in capital letters, and CAUTION in bold. Pedestrians are too powerful and scary, other people have to be cautioned and warned of.

By the way the photo was taken in 9 October 2007 in front of the building site for the new Royal Melbourne Women’s Hospital, hence the huge ass portrait shots of women.

Indeed, they are stupid. In fact there has been a lot of interest on the internet on whether they are stupid. This is evident by the keywords that people use to find this site:

Do note that there are 3 similar search terms to stupid Australians, totalling 74 visits. The original “Australians are stupid” post is also one of the most commented post in this website (not that we get a lot of visitors.) If you look at the comments, there are local and foreigners alike who seem to think and come to the same conclusion – that Australians are indeed stupid.

We recently get a comment from Jack on that post:

The amount of assaults in this coutry are rediculous, aussies are aclohol obsessed and agressive people with NO common sense what so ever.
I am Australian and NOT proud of it and I am happy to say that I am leaving this country this year, I will tell no one in my new home country that I am australian because I am ambarresed.
Teachers here can’t spell for shit, and that is teaching our kids, my god, an idiot teaching an a idiot, that is the same with driving lessons, aussies can’t drive for shit.
I can go on and on like this but it’s only making me sad.

Bad grammar and spelling mistakes aside, one thing that caught my attention is how he spelled ridiculous. Jack said, and I quote:” The amount of assaults in this coutry are rediculous, aussies are aclohol obsessed and agressive people with NO common sense what so ever.”

I don’t know, Jack. Maybe you have read my previous post about spelling “rediculous”, and by using that particular spelling, you want to impress me by indicating to me that you have read it. What a good reader you have been!

Either that, or you are as stupid as some Australians. Please do check out How-To-Spell-Ridiculous.com. Seriously, it’s essential that you get it right, so that we have one less stupid Australian. Sorry Jack. Sorry I have to pick on you like that.

One day, as I was walking in QV mall, a dwarf walk pass me. No, not your World of Warcraft or [insert MMORPG name] type of Dwarf. A real life dwarf, a genetic disease.

Parallel to me, there were two kids looking at the dwarf as he walk pass them. They kept looking AND laughing at the same time, and then ran up to their father and had the following conversation:

Kids: Dad! Dad! Look at that guy! [Laughs and giggles]
Dad: What?
Kids: Dad, that guy over there!
Dad: What? He’s a dwarf.
Kids: [Laughs and giggles continues]

In Australia, where people are generally well informed about diseases around the world, I felt disgusted at the action of the father. He did not stop them from laughing. In fact, he said “What? He’s a dwarf” like it’s does not concern him, like it’s a matter of fact, like their kids can laugh at the dwarf. It is fortunate that no one is in the proximity of those children and the stupid father, and it’s even more fortunate that the dwarf didn’t hear any part of this conversation.

They laughed at a disease, at a sufferer. The father did not even take the initiative to educate his children about dwarfism, and it’s not right to laugh at people and that is why I think some Australians are stupid.

One a side note, this is a picture I found in the newspaper long ago about a storm in Melbourne. We are always taught not to stand under a tree in a storm, as the chance of being hit by lighting is significantly increased. However, Australian being Australian, here’s what you see:

More intriguingly, there’s a perfectly fine building at the back. I wonder why they do not stay inside the building instead.

Australians are stupid

Since it’s the exam period, this is going to be a short one. I have been having all sorts of ideas why Australians, or some Australians in particular, are stupid. This is one of the things that led me to believe so. I hope this will be an ongoing post where I shall post ideas and perspective that led me to believe the same thing.

The Melbourne Italian Festival, or the closing ceremony is held on 9th and 10th June at Piazza Italia, or Argyle Square. This is the examination periods for students of Melbourne, particularly The University of Melbourne and RMIT, which is in the proximity of Piazza Italia.

I have nothing against the festival itself. Rather, I have something against the date it is being held. Organizing and holding this kind of extremely loud events in the proximity of what I would consider to be an area full of university students in their examinations period is stupid and idiotic.

Coincidentally, the Melbourne City Council seem to have some urge to re-landscape Cardigan Street. However, they couldn’t pick a better day to start doing it. According to one of the letters, the work will begin on 8th June and will end around four weeks time, weather permitting. Two days before 8th June, they cut down all the trees on the tree island on Cardigan Street.

It’s as if Australian, particularly Melbournians are out to doom us all in our examination period. I am not sure who approved the event and the work at the dates without asking the opinion of at least some of the residents, but I am pretty sure John So is involved.

Some Australians are stupid, no doubt about it.
